Danny Rose is ready to make his Watford debut on Tuesday night after manager Xisco hailed the left-back’s hard work during pre-season.

Rose joined Watford on a free transfer after his contract with Tottenham expired at the end of June.

The 31-year-old endured a difficult final season at Spurs and did not make a single appearance after being omitted from the club’s squad list for the Premier League and Europa League.

Rose was not given a squad number by Tottenham last term, but has fought hard to get himself fit at Watford and Xisco has revealed the defender is ready to make his competitive Hornets debut against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

“He is ready and also I will say, he worked very hard in this pre-season. Very, very hard,” said Xisco.

“I can say congratulations, because I know what he has given in the last eight weeks. I wish him all the best tonight and he will for sure play tonight and he will give a good level for us.

“Danny worked very hard this pre-season, I know what he has given. Tonight we will see if he starts in the first XI.

“If he plays, I tell you, I need to see the best Danny. This is what I want to feel. If he plays in the first XI, I want to see the best Danny. If he plays only 25 minutes, I want to see the best Danny.

“Whoever plays on the pitch tonight won’t lose the hunger. We need tempo and intensity.”
