DARLINGTON manager Alun Armstrong is looking for a much better result from his team tonight than the last time they visited the New Buck’s Head to play AFC Telford.

Armstrong was extremely upset last season by the manner in which Quakers lost 5-0, and also by midfielder Joe Wheatley getting himself needlessly sent off in the second half.

“Even though we weren’t brilliant in the first half last season, I thought that we should have been in front at half-time, but then we conceded a penalty and went in 1-0 down,” he said.

“The second half was a no-show from everyone and we ended up losing 5-0. It was one of the worst performances in my time as Darlington manager. We gave away some very poor goals.

“We have to put that right. Telford have a new manager and they’ll be wanting to put a show on, especially as they lost on Saturday. We’ve got to go there and put the onus on them, and hopefully we will by attacking them from the start."

Quakers only collected a point against Leamington at the weekend, but they’re still in the promotion pack in fourth position, two points behind second-placed Brackley, who have won every game since they drew with Quakers in October.

Telford are bottom of the table, and lost 2-1 at home to Alfreton at the weekend, their fourth league defeat at home this season.

Defender Kallum Griffiths is still missing because of injury, while another defender, David Wheater, is almost set to return.

Spennymoor are also in action tonight, hosting Chester at Brewery Field.
