Darren Anderton predicts Antonio Conte conversation with Harry Kane about Tottenham transfer future

Darren Anderton predicts Antonio Conte conversation with Harry Kane about Tottenham transfer future

Former Tottenham and England midfielder Darren Anderton has predicted that a conversation with Harry Kane about his future at the club will be one of the first tasks Antonio Conte undertakes in his new role.

The alarming dip in Kane’s form since Manchester City’s failed attempts to sign him has been the subject of much debate. Both the top scorer and the top assists provider in the Premier League last season, the 28-year-old has only been able to register one of either so far this time around.

Still, given Conte’s standing in the game, having won league titles in Italy and England, Anderton predicts that the former Chelsea manager has the kind of prestige to convince the England captain to remain in North London.

“One of the first things that Conte will do is speak to Harry Kane and say: ‘If you stick with me, we’ll win things’”, he told whichbookie.co.uk.

“I think that’s a fair comment so I hope it’s something that is said and Harry takes on board and then stays with the club.”

Of the appointment, Kane stressed that he and his teammates have “no excuses” not to perform under his watch.

“He has done it on the biggest stage with the biggest teams, so he will give us everything he has to improve us and now it’s down to us as players to have no excuses.

“We have to make sure every minute of our lives we are trying to improve and win for this team and that is the only way we are going to move forward.”
