Date and time confirmed for Wycombe Wanderers' League Cup tie with Aston Villa

Wycombe Wanderers’ home League Cup tie against Aston Villa will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The clash at Adams Park will take place on Tuesday, September 24 with the fixture kicking off at 8pm.

It is the first meeting between the two sides since the 2015/16 season, both the Chairboys and the Villans faced off in the FA Cup.

A 1-1 draw in Buckinghamshire meant Gareth Ainsworth’s side travelled to the Midlands to face the then-struggling Premier League side in a reply, where they lost 2-0.

In the League Cup, there have been two meetings between the two teams with both encounters taking place in the 2000s.

The first was in September 2003, which saw Villa smash Wycombe 5-0 at Adams Park.

Two years later, they met again at Adams Park with Wanderers losing 8-3, despite being 3-1 up at half-time.
