David Gray has revealed Hibs will welcome back injured players when they take on Rangers - as he hopes their Euro tie in Malmo can help his side win on Sunday.

The head coach has had his stars on the training pitch for an extended period during the recent international break and they returned last weekend with their first Premiership victory of the season against St Johnstone at Easter Road. The likes of Joe Newell missed that fixture while Martin Boyle had been nursing a knock - albeit he scored - but the boss has revealed he'll have players back for the trip to Ibrox.

He told Sky Sports: "We've been quite consistent trying to stay measured throughout the whole process, trust in what we're doing. Results maybe haven't went as well as we'd like in certain situations but all in all we're working hard on areas we need to improve and building the group together, I'm really happy with how it's working so far.

"The break came at a good time for certain players, Martin and Joe were carrying injuries we've been able to address over the period and then with the boys joining later with Dwight and Jack Iredale joining later, it's given them time to be around the boys and new staff. Everyone working together to try and get the message we're trying to get across."

Dwight Gayle signed for the club earlier this month and will be ready to go as a fresh attacking option, as Gray added: "Dwight is available for the weekend for sure, he's in real good condition and I think you've seen that straight away with how professional he is. He's looked after himself really well and has been a great addition so far."

Gers are in action tomorrow evening in Malmo as their Europa League campaign kicks off and Gray hopes they do well to fly the Scottish flag. But he's hoping to tune into the action and pick out ways for his side to map their road to victory on Sunday.

"(I'm expecting) A real tough test, it's a great place to go and play football, it'll be a real tough game with them off the back of a good win at home last week as well. It should be a good game and it's one we're looking forward to.

"The only thing (Malmo game) can affect is if they pick up injuries during the game but we're fully focused on what we're gonna do. We wish them all the best because we want Scottish clubs to do well in Europe so best of luck, but we'll be watching the game closely to make sure we can go there and give ourselves the best chance."
