West Ham United will not be landing Villarreal forwardArnaut Danjuma this summer, according to a report.

The former Bournemouth winger had come to the attention of a number of clubs after an impressive 2021-22 season in LaLiga. He bagged 16 goals and four assists in 34 games last season prompting interest from West Ham.

Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been interested in the 25-year-old. But it was West Ham who pushed on with a deal to sign the player.

David Moyes is on the hunt for quality attacking reinforcements and Danjuma was a man the club were keen on.

However, talks have led to the interest from the Hammers to be knocked back, according to Goal. And as per the source, Danjuma’s “top priority at the moment is to consolidate his brilliant last campaign”.

That means that he will be staying with Villarreal and regaining his fitness and trying to force his way into the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.

Danjuma’s release clause stands is understood to be £60m according to Fabrizio Romano. However, Villarreal were prepared to sell him for less than that with £39m mentioned.

But the Yellow Submarine were in no rush to offload Danjuma, who only arrived last summer for a deal totalling £21.3m from Bournemouth.

Villarreal calm over transfer talk

AS report that Danjuma wants to repay the faith shown in him by Unai Emery and say “talks between the two clubs have not come to fruition”.

The LaLiga club’s president Fernando Roig was calm about a potential transfer for Danjuma last week.

“I don’t know anything about Danjuma. I think the market is stopped,” Roig said (via Sport Witness). “There isn’t movement like other seasons, things are calmer.

“If they [offers] come, that’s fine. If they don’t, that’s fine too. We have great forwards.”

The LaLiga side were certainly not under any financial pressure to sell and Moyes will now have to look elsewhere for support for Michail Antonio.

The Scot has been hunting for another forward option ever since £45m recruit Sebsatian Haller left the club in January 2021 for £20m.
