Davy Klaassen 'rejects' Rangers transfer as midfielder set for emotional Ajax return
Davy Klaassen has reportedly turned down the chance to move to Rangers, instead returning to Ajax.
The Light Blues possibly didn't add as many new players as they would have liked over the summer as they tried to wheel and deal and get some out to free up funds, and the attacking midfielder is available on a free transfer after leaving Inter Milan so can be signed outside of the transfer window.
It is being claimed by transfer expert Nicolò Schira that the Ibrox side made an attempt to land the 31-year-old on a free. However, it is reported he has turned down the opportunity to come to Glasgow and Scottish football and will instead be going back to the Dutch giants, where he has had two previous spells.

Schira tweeted: "Behind The Scenes - Davy #Klaassen has turned down #RangersFC and #RoyalAntwerp bids in the last days to return to #Ajax."
Klaassen made over 300 appearances for the Eredivisie side over his two stints, winning five titles and a cup. He was also part of the side who made the Europa League final in 2017. He had a spell in English football with Everton but barely played before moving to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
Rangers had been tipped to enter the free agent market after the closure of the window but it looks like it will not be for Klaassen. Previously linked Steven Alzate and Marco van Ginkel are both available on free transfers.
