Wayne Rooney expertly scores incredible goal from beyond midfield for D.C. United

Wayne Rooney made his mark on the soccer world long before he joined D.C. United last season.

But on Wednesday night, it only took Rooney 10 minutes to remind everyone why he’s one of the best in the world.

Rooney, just 10 minutes into D.C. United’s 1-0 win against Orlando City in Washington, picked up the ball and started making a play downfield. Yet before he even got to the midfield line, Rooney took his shot — launching the ball and catching everyone, including Orlando City goalie Brian Rowe, off guard.

Naturally, Rooney’s aim was dead on.

Rooney’s incredible goal put D.C. United up 1-0, and ended up sealing the win for them right there.

The 33-year-old already has nine goals this season, the fourth most in the MLS. The others, though, won’t be able to compete with what he did on Wednesday night at Audi Field.

If this stunning goal is any indication, Rooney still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. The former Manchester United legend isn’t done just yet.
