A dead body was found in the home of fired Louisville dance coach Todd Sharp by an Indiana county sheriff’s department, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

23-year-old Samuel Phelps was reportedly spending the night at Sharp’s house after meeting him on Saturday. A day later, Sharp called 911 saying a dead Phelps was in his home.

Investigators reportedly don’t suspect foul play and a toxicology report is pending according to Chief Wayne Kessinger.

From the Courier-Journal:

"It's just a simple death investigation right now," Kessinger said. "There's no obvious signs of any trauma or foul play."

The unusual situation comes after Sharp was fired in 2018 for financial misconduct following an audit that found a $40,000 discrepancy in the team’s deposits. The saga turned bizarre earlier this year, when Sharp accidentally shot himself in the leg at a downtown Marriott that was also hosting an event for the school’s baseball team.

Sharp was then banned from the Louisville campus and all public and private university-events. He reportedly explained he was carrying the gun after a break-in at his house, forgetting it was in his pocket when he reached in and accidentally fired it.

Before his firing, Sharp was among the most decorated school dance coaches in the country, winning 20 national championships with Louisville according to the Courier-Journal. That success even sparked a reality show called “So Sharp” on the Lifetime channel.
