Death in Paradise's Ralf Little has teased that one episode of the new season is in the bag.

The Royle Family actor has played DI Neville Parker since series 9 of Death in Paradise and, during a recent Instagram Q&A, told fans this year's Christmas special has wrapped.

The Christmas special will premiere later this year ahead of series 13 launching with the show's 100th episode. The air dates are yet to be announced for the festive outing and the launch of the new series.

Ralf was joined in the Q&A by Tahj Miles, who plays Officer Marlon Pryce in the show, and the pair answered viewers' burning questions.

One fan asked how many episodes had been filmed so far, to which Ralf answered: "Just one, just the Christmas special.

"We wouldn't be able to tell you what happens in the series, obviously, and I mean we don't really know, do we? Our guess is as good as yours, but we are excited for it."

The duo was asked if there were any guest appearances this season which they dodged, and Ralf said: "Neither of us wants to get fired."

During the Instagram chat, Tahj said his favourite thing about working on the show was its location: "Not a single thing here is green screened."

When asked what scene the pair would like to film together, Tahj jumped in: "I want a scene riding the motorcycle, and you [Ralf] in the sidecar – it would be amazing."

Laughing, he begged the producers to make it happen: "Any producers watching, please write that – it would be so funny."

When series 12 wrapped earlier this year, it was announced shortly after that it would return not only for series 13 but also series 14.

Production on series 13 was confirmed by the show's official Twitter channel last month when it shared an image of a clapper board splashing into a swimming pool, with the caption: "We're back in Guadeloupe with a splash! Today was our first day of filming series 13 of Death in Paradise!"

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
