Del Piero delighted

The legendary striker, who was denied a contract extension earlier this season, has grabbed two goals and an assist in Juve’s past three matches as they cut the gap on the Rossoneri to two points and progressed to the Coppa Italia final at their rivals’ expense.

Del Piero’s Indian Summer has come at the perfect time – and with the Bianconeri still unbeaten, he feels they are primed to win their first league title since the Calciopoli affair.

"We took six points, against Napoli and Internazionale, in two memorable evenings," the 37-year-old said on the Juve website.

"We did so in front of our fans, whom we are extraordinarily close to, and I thank you for this.

"The manner of these victories showed our character, and I am euphoric right now.

"They were very difficult matches thanks to the calendar putting two of the top teams in consecutive games, but it has given us a boost as we continue our journey.

"Now we must turn our attentions to Saturday’s match against Palermo."
