Derby County have shown their continued support for women’s football – and women in football – by partnering with Her Game Too.

The Rams confirmed the move with an announcement on their website as they expressed their commitment to ‘tackling gender discrimination and misogyny’ in the game by joining a campaign that was launched three years ago and which has quickly grown to include more than 130 volunteers at clubs throughout the country.

The initiative works to ensure that football grounds are a welcoming and comfortable environment for women to visit and play at and lifelong fan Simran Atwal was selected by Her Game Too as Derby County’s dedicated Ambassador for the campaign in May 2023.

Simran said: “Derby County has a significant female fanbase and it is so important that everyone feels welcomed and supported in the community. This partnership shows huge commitment to tackling sexism within the sport and is a big step towards making all female fans feel equally valued and appreciated.

“From a personal perspective, as a lifelong Derby County fan, it is incredible to see us collaborate with the campaign I am so passionate about highlighting. It is an honour to represent female Derby County fans, and it means the world that the club has pledged its support of Her Game Too.”

Sophie Roddie, Derby County’s Matchday and Fan Engagement Lead said: “As a club, we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Her Game Too, to help raise awareness and tackle sexism in football, and to further showcase our mission to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for women and girls at our games.

“We have exciting plans in place for the rest of 2024/25 and beyond where we will continue to promote the fantastic work delivered across Derby County Football Club alongside Her Game Too.”
