Derby County fans have had their say on who should follow Curtis Nelson in signing a new deal with the club.

The Rams have used the international break to tend to some important housekeeping by getting defender Nelson tied down to fresh terms. The 31-year-old, who was due to be out of contract at the end of the season, has signed a deal that will keep him at Pride Park until at least the summer of 2026.

However, decisions will soon need to be made on the other players currently set to see their contracts expire at the end of the campaign. As it stands, Tom Barkhuizen, Liam Thompson, Conor Washington, James Collins, Rohan Luthra, Sonny Bradley, Craig Forsyth and Kane Wilson will all become free agents in the summer.

The club must weigh up whether to offer new contracts, cash-in in January or risk those players walking away for nothing in a few months’ time. Below is a look at what supporters have said should happen.

LeicesterRam: Keep Thompson for sure. Also Wilson. Maybe Luthra because we do need a third choice goalkeeper. The rest can go but we need a permanent striker or two to be signed in January to replace Collins, Washington and Yates next season.

Modram: Wilson & Thompson. Yes please. Forsyth & Barkhuizen till the end of the season. The others offload in January. Bring in a Striker in January. Bring in another Midfielder in January.

Itsnotcouldof: No brainer to get Thompson and Wilson signed up - they're young and key players for Derby that cost us nothing. It'd be ludicrous to see them go for next to nothing. The others will either retire or move to lower league clubs. As much as Forsyth (or Fozzy) is a cult hero, he'll be 36 in February, and is slowing down. He could transition to a CB for another year or so, but I'd prefer Nat Philips being signed or Bradley retained over that situation arising.

grabbags: Barkhuisen, Washington, Bradley and Collins all would offer something to a League One team and should move on in January if they want game time. It seems a waste being only part of the squad. It would allow four new recruits in the next window or an academy player to progress. I would keep Forsyth, but to play for the u21s, as Johnson did, that would be beneficial to all. Thompson and Wilson will decide on the offers they get, that's how it goes these days.

risleyram: It's one thing wanting players to go and another them going. I would just keep Wilson and Thommo they are the right age. I can imagine interest from League 1 clubs for Collo and Bradley the rest are injury prone and they will won't to see their contracts out Can't make up my mind about Fozzy he keeps difying the odds and playing well. Would like him at the club in some capacity he deserves that

susieglass: Sign thommo, Fozzy and maybe Wilson. Let the rest go.
