Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard attempted an aggressive stop on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs that came back quickly to bite him.
Late in the second period of a tied game, Howard took a risk by leaving his net in an attempt to halt Ilya Mikheyev's breakaway. He completely missed the puck and only minorly affected Ilya Mikheyev's trajectory to the net.
The Maple Leafs forward easily slipped the puck in behind the sprawling goalie.

In the third, the teams exchanged goals before the Leafs pulled ahead for a 5-2 victory.
Toronto is off to a 3-2-1 start while the Red Wings hold a 3-2-0 record, riding Anthony Mantha's early success.
The Maple Leafs host the Minnesota Wild next on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. ET while the Red Wings travel to Vancouver for a date with the Canucks at 10 p.m.
