Diogo Jota shares the only way Liverpool can keep improving under Arne Slot
Diogo Jota said that Liverpool is still progressing under new manager Arne Slot after the Reds made it six wins from seven at the start of the new season.
Jota scored twice in the 5-1 victory over West Ham on Wednesday, with Cody Gakpo also bagging a late brace and Mohamed Salah scoring off the bench.
The only poor result of Slot's reign so far is the 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest after the September international break, but the team has bounced back with successive wins over AC Milan, Bournemouth and now West Ham, scoring 11 goals in the process.
On Liverpool's form under Slot, Jota told Sky Sports: "We just have one defeat. Obviously we are still progressing, still developing our ideas, but only by winning games can you become better, so we are happy."
Liverpool fell behind against West Ham when Wataru Endo's poor clearance hit Jarell Quansah and rebounded past Caoimhim Kelleher and into the net.
The visitors' lead didn't last long, though, as Jota defied the odds to out-jump Max Kilman and head home an equaliser from a scuffed shot by Federico Chiesa.
Of his equaliser, Jota said: "It's important when you are down to equalise as quick as possible and to score at Anfield. Anfield nights are always special, so I'm happy to help the team."
Although the final score was 5-1 to Liverpool, the match itself was a contest until the closing stages, with both of Gakpo's goals coming in the 90th minute and beyond, and Jota suggested the scoreline flattered the Reds.
"I think the result says so (that the win was comfortable), but the game was completely different," Jota added. "We scored a couple of goals towards the end when they were down to 10 men. I think they made it hard for us, they kept the ball, it was a good game in general and we're just happy to go through."
