Disgraced former footballer Adam Johnson has made headlines from behind bars once more this week after a secret video captured the convicted sex offender discussing the severity of his six-year prison sentence with fellow inmates at HMP Moorland in South Yorkshire.
In the video obtained by the Sun, it would appear that Johnson has little remorse for his behaviour relating to a 15-year-old schoolgirl - despite what he said about feeling 'ashamed' at his trial - and seemed to place blame at the feet of the victim, as well as claiming he was only charged and made an example of because of his fame.
After another inmate in the conversation observed that rape wasn't one of the ex-pro's charges Johnson even went as far as sickly joking that he wished he had actually raped his victim in light of the sentence he ultimately received.
"I wish I f***ing did (rape her) for six years (in prison)," was Johnson's shocking response, laughing, when the other prisoners pointed it out.
Johnson appears to believe the scale of his crimes amount to "f*** all" because "I didn't even get my c**k out".
When asked what he thought would have happened if he hadn't been a famous footballer, he said, "I would have got a caution at the police station. They might not even have charged. If I wasn't who I was, [the girl's dad] wouldn't have gone to the police station."
"There's lads in here who've f***ing shagged 12-year-olds and got 13 months. Do you know what I mean? They got, like, half the time!" he was also heard saying.
Discussing his relationship with the then 15-year-old, Johnson said, "I was going to the home games, you park your car in the car park and she was at my car every game right, waiting for me, just standing there like in all the gear and that… like tight jeans, little shirt, t**s out, not like skirts and that. Then after the game she was asking for pictures all the time.
"This went on for about six months and the next thing she says, 'Can you get us a signed shirt?' And then she added me (on social media).
"I accepted her, got talking to her, I didn't, I didn't know, I just thought she was 17, 18. Got talking to her for a few weeks and then I met up with her and f***ing kissed her and..."
"Next thing you're doing a six-year stretch," a prisoner interjected.
It has already been suggested that the nature of Johnson's comments and what seems to be a clear lack of remorse for his actions will see any chance of an appeal and early release severely damaged.
