‘Disinterested’ Tottenham player branded ‘a joke’ and ‘worst player of the season’
Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino thinks Tottenham striker Richarlison has been “the worst player” in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham paid £60million to sign the Brazilian striker from Everton last summer.
He has most certainly not justified his price tag having only scored one Premier League goal all season.
Hilariously, unless you are a Spurs fan, his only league goal came against Liverpool the other week, netting a last-gasp equaliser only for the Reds to go and score a winner a minute later.
After the result at Anfield, Richarlison was mocked by fellow Premier League strikers Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio on their podcast.
The Newcastle United and West Ham players loved the fact Richarlison has taken his shirt off to celebrate four different goals this season, only for three to be disallowed and the other one to end up meaning nothing.
It has been a while since Richarlison received any praise due to his woes at club level.
He did enjoy a stellar World Cup with Brazil and Paul Parker recently said he thinks Richarlison would be better for Spurs than Harry Kane, which we are not counting as praise because that is just a ridiculous statement.
Amidst his struggles, the former Everton man has come under criticism once again; this time from Tony Cascarino.
The former Chelsea striker believes Richarlison “looked disinterested” against Aston Villa on Saturday and has been “a joke” all season.
“If you said to me, name the worst player this season, the worst player, for what he’s got, Richarlison,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“He’s been a joke this year, Richarlison. I don’t care if he’s been injured or gone away at the World Cup
“Yesterday (against Aston Villa), he hardly tried a leg. He really looked disinterested.
“I know that obviously Antonio Conte pulled him out about his performances, a bit about he’s not played well. I can’t believe, Richarlison was the player last year that I felt was responsible as anybody of keeping Everton up. He hasn’t shown any of that at Spurs.
“He’s been hugely disappointing.”
