Dixon received the call after Southampton left-back Danny Fox stood down after suffering a groin injury.

The 25-year-old has yet to appear for the senior squad, however, he was previously selected in 2010 for a friendly against Czech Republic.

Dixon has made two appearances for the Scotland Under-21s and is in Craig Levein's squad to take on Serbia (September 8) and Macedonia (September 11) at Hampden Park.

Dixon has been ever present for Huddersfield this season after signing on a free transfer from Dundee United in the summer.

Meanwhile fellow Town defender Joel Lynch has withdrawn from the Wales squad after suffering an Achilles injury against Ipswich at the weekend.

He will remain with the club and receive treatment in the hope that he will be ready for the visit of Derby when the Championship programme resumes on September 15.
