DLR timetable changes: Tfl has improved the DLR timetable to save commuters time

A number of changes have been introduced to the DLR timetable, as well as a new fleet of trains with improved features.

The changes were implemented on Monday (September 26) and aim to reduce waiting times, relieve crowding, and make it easier for people to travel across the Docklands and east London, according to Transport for London (TfL).

As well as providing more trains, TfL is aiming to reduce waiting times when switching to the Elizabeth Line at Canary Wharf, Custom House, and Stratford stations.

The changes will result in more trains during the evenings and at weekends. For example, on weekday evenings, Bank-Lewisham services will run every five minutes rather than every 10.

On some routes, trains will be shorter but run more frequently, to match the average flow of people through busy lines.

A new stock of trains will also be introduced to the network, replacing two-thirds of the existing fleet and providing 10 additional trains.

These additions will feature a new design of trains, with walk-through carriages, real-time travel information, air-con, and charging points.

What routes have been improved?

Stratford to Canary Wharf

• Weekday during peak hours: services will run every four minutes rather than the current six to seven minutes

• During daytime and early evening: services will run every five minutes rather than every 10 minutes

Stratford to Lewisham via Canary Wharf

• Weekday morning during peak hours: every other train from Stratford will continue to Lewisham, providing a service every two to four minutes between Canary Wharf and Lewisham

Canning Town to Beckton

• The Canning Town to Beckton shuttle is being reintroduced during off-peak daytimes and being introduced for the first time during peak times

• The shuttle will complement existing services, meaning a service will operate between Canning Town and Beckton every four minutes during weekday peaks, currently every eight minutes, and every five minutes during off-peak daytimes throughout the week, instead of every 10 minutes
