Dodgers' Taylor downplays hamstring injury

Dodgers shortstop Chris Taylor is considered day-to-day after leaving Los Angeles' Wednesday afternoon game against the Cubs in Chicago due to left hamstring tightness.

Taylor came out after the sixth inning as a precautionary measure, and he declared that he expects to be back in action for the team's next game. The Dodgers are off Thursday before beginning a three-game road series against the New York Mets on Friday.

According to Taylor, the injury occurred when he was thrown out at home plate in the third inning. Taylor was on third after hitting a double and moving up on Enrique Hernandez's single. He attempted to score on Justin Turner's fly ball, but Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward made the throw home to complete a double play.

"It wasn't a pull or anything, but after that play, there were a couple instances where it kind of grabbed," Taylor said, according to MLB.com. "I don't expect to miss any playing days. If everything goes as planned, I think I should be in there (Friday)."

Taylor went 1-for-3 on Wednesday as the Cubs beat the Dodgers 4-0, and he was 4-for-11 for the three-game series. For the season, the Los Angeles leadoff man is hitting .249 with a .335 on-base percentage, a .444 slugging percentage, eight home runs and 27 RBIs in 72 games.
