A baby has suffered serious injuries after being mauled by a dog, according to police.

The nine-month-old child was found suffering injuries at a home in Lime Avenue, Aldingbourne at 2pm on Thursday.

The dog involved has been seized by Sussex Police officers arriving at the scene just five miles east of Chichester.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said today: ”The baby suffered serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, and was taken to hospital.

“Officers have seized the dog, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.”

No further details have been released and the breed of the dog has not been disclosed.
