Dolphins greats Jason Taylor, Sam Madison join high school coaching staff

Former Dolphins greats Jason Taylor and Sam Madison will serve as assistant coaches for Florida football power St. Thomas Aquinas.

Jason Taylor and Sam Madison spent almost a decade together with the Dolphins, spearheading one of the NFL's stingiest defenses.

Now, the former NFL stars are sharing a new gridiron adventure— as assistant coaches for theSt. Thomas Aquinas High School football team in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Both Taylor and Madison have sons who are incoming freshmen at the school.

St. Thomas Aquinas’ athletic directorGeorge Smith said Taylor, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, and Madison, a four-time All-Pro, just offered to help.

“Their kids are coming to our place and they said, ‘Can we help you?’” Smith told the Sun-Sentinel.com. “They’re great guys. They’re good coaches and that’s what we’re looking for.”

This won't be the first time Taylor and Madison have coached together. They both served as coaches for their son'steam in theAmerican Youth Football League.

They've got high standards to uphold at St. Thomas Aquinas, perenially one of the top prep football programs in the U.S. Coach Roger Harriott'steam won the state 7A championship(Florida's top class designation)last year, its ninth state title.
