Domestic violence case dismissed against ex-Jaguars LB Brown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A domestic violence complaint against former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Blair Brown has been dismissed.

A judge dismissed the case last week, according to Duval County court records. Brown's agent, Michael Boyer, released a statement Wednesday saying Brown "is very pleased to put this all behind him and continue his life and football career.”

According to the complaint filed in May 2019, Brown pointed a gun at his wife and threatened to kill her. He also was accused of pushing her to the ground, kicking her in the abdomen and punching her in the face after a verbal altercation in April 2019. Brown, a fifth-round draft pick from Ohio University in 2017, was arrested on a charge of domestic violence without injury. He turned himself in by flagging down a police car and telling the officer there was a warrant out for his arrest.

The Jaguars parted ways with Brown on May 9 — 11 days after the alleged incident.

“It’s very important to note that this case has been dismissed before the trial ever started," Boyer said. “All egregious acts that Mr. Brown was accused of were completely refuted in court. The police were undoubtedly doing their job in recording initial allegations in their report. However, it was made abundantly clear in court during the pretrial motion that there was no truth to the allegations.”
