Dominic Solanke cursed his bad luck after being denied a first senior Liverpool goal in Wednesday’s stalemate with West Bromwich Albion.

Solanke said his goalbound effort struck his chest but admitted the ball also hit his harm before beating Ben Foster.

After a delay, referee Paul Tierney disallowed the effort.

“It went onto my chest, I tried to chest it in and it has clipped my arm,” said Solanke.

“The referee disallowed it but it’s very unlucky. I thought he had given it. I was celebrating. I don’t know what changed his mind, but he changed his mind. I thought I won it, It’s not nice when you are celebrating and it gets disallowed.

“It was annoying but hopefully I will get a goal soon and carry on from there.”

Klopp has shown faith in the youngster since his move from Chelsea – the fee still to be determined by a tribunal later this season.

“The manager has made me feel welcome, he has showed a lot of faith in me and played me in some important games,” said Solanke.

“He always gives me feedback and tells me if I think I should be doing something better which you want from a manager. If I’m playing and he sees things I can do better or I’m doing well he will always tell me. It is criticism and praise, it helps me a lot. I’ve been happy here, I’m happy here. Being at a big club like Liverpool you’re always going to have great players, but when you are young you can learn from them so it’s not a bad thing. It has been a busy season with all the competitions we are in. December is probably the busiest time, there are a lot of games, games every two or three games.

“We know we have a good enough squad to rotate so we have to just all play a part. It’s a great club, great team and we’ve been doing well. We have to keep on trying to win games.”

Although Liverpool have rarely lost this season and are in the midst of an 11 game unbeaten run, Premier League ambitions have been undermined by draws – three in their last home domestic fixtures.

“It’s always hard when a team tries to play defensively, you have to try to break them down,” said Solanke.

"We had a few chances to maybe win the game which we didn’t take. It was always going to be difficult game but we have to learn from it.”
