Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai is facing an anxious wait over his place at Euro 2024 after appearing to suffer a worrying injury on the eve of the tournament.

Szoboszlai is one of several Reds stars who will be looking to impress at the European Championships this summer in Germany. The 23-year-old is part of the Hungary squad for this year's tournament, but there may be concerns about the midfielder's fitness.

Saturday saw Hungary play Israel in the country's final friendly match before the tournament. Hungary claimed a 3-0 win with a brace from Barnabas Varga being supported by a goal from Roland Sallai.

Szoboszlai was handed a start in the game by Hungary boss Marco Rossi. However, the Liverpool midfielder was unable to play the full game at Nagyerdei Stadion.

Szoboszlai appeared to receive treatment for a potential injury in the early minutes of the second half. Szoboszlai was not able to continue and was substituted in the 57th minute.

Journalist Bence Boczak later reported that Szoboszlai appeared to be "walking fine" following the final whistle. It remains to be seen if the substitution was due to an injury or just as a precaution ahead of the tournament.

At the time of writing, Hungary are yet to provide an update on Szoboszlai's fitness. The country will open their Euro 2024 campaign against Switzerland on June 15 before facing Scotland and hosts Germany in their other remaining group fixtures.

Szoboszlai recently finished his first season with Liverpool after arriving from RB Leipzig last summer. His first campaign at Anfield saw him struggle with a hamstring injury at the turn of the year which forced him to miss 10 games.

The Liverpool midfielder will have ambitions of starring for his country at Euro 2024 this summer. After the tournament, Szoboszlai will join his Reds teammates in working with new head coach Arne Slot during pre-season training which begins next month ahead of a tour of the United States.
