Doncaster have signed 23-year-old Blackburn Rovers midfielder Herold Goulon on a two-month emergency loan.

The 6ft 5ins former France Under-21 international is a graduate of his country's famed Clairefontaine academy and has made four appearances since joining the Barclays Premier League club from Le Mans last October.

Goulon is the second top-flight player to move to the Keepmoat Stadium on a temporary deal this week following Habib Beye's switch from Aston Villa.

A host of star names continue to be linked with the npower Championship's bottom club ahead of Thursday's loan deadline, and boss Dean Saunders is confident of further arrivals.

"It's another good signing for us and there could be more things happening, with a bit of luck, before the end of the week," he told the club's official website.

Saunders has now made seven signings since replacing Sean O'Driscoll in September as the club reaps the benefits of a radical transfer policy overseen by agent Willie McKay.

However, one of Saunders' new recruits, Pascal Chimbonda, is facing a month on the sidelines with a hip injury. Chimbonda, who sat out the 2-0 defeat at Barnsley last weekend, has torn a ligament in his hip flexor.

"It's a big blow because he's a class player and we missed him at Barnsley," Saunders told Rovers' official website. "Hopefully he'll be back for some of the games over the Christmas period."

Saunders is facing an injury crisis in the wake of the Oakwell defeat, with James Coppinger and George Friend awaiting scans on foot injuries, while Shelton Martis and Billy Sharp are nursing groin problems.

In a welcome boost for the former Wrexham boss, x-rays proved fears defender Herita Ilunga suffered a broken toe against the Tykes were unfounded.
