Dong Hyun Kim vs. Gunnar Nelson Canceled, UFC Belfast Gets New Main Event

The UFC Fight Night 99 main event bout between Dong Hyun Kim and Gunnar Nelson has been canceled, but UFC officials already have a new main event in place.

The Nelson vs. Kim fight was nixed when Nelson suffered an undisclosed injury, according to an initial report by MMAFighting.com.

MMAWeekly.com sources close to the situation confirmed the bout's cancellation and its replacement, a rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall. Contracts for the bout hadn't yet been signed, but verbal agreements were in place.

With the majority of the top UFC middleweights already booked for fights, Mousasi (40-6-2) had recently been angling for a bout with Anderson Silva or Nick Diaz. However, when the Kim vs. Nelson bout was canceled, Mousasi and Hall got the opportunity to headline UFC Fight Night Belfast.

It's a fight that Mousasi certainly wants back. He's currently in the midst of a 5-1 run in the Octagon. Mousasi's lone loss during that stretch was to Hall, who knocked him out early in the second round of their fight in September of 2015.

While Mousasi has been on a three-fight winning streak since then, Hall (12-7) has dropped back-to-back bouts to Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson.

UFC Fight Night 99 takes place on Nov. 19 at SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
