Dons keeper gets Ireland call-up

MK Dons goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for their forthcoming UEFA Euro 2013 qualifier against Italy.

Ireland face Denmark in a friendly on May 28 before hosting the Italians at the Showgrounds in Sligo on June 4.

McLoughlin, who had the one-year option on his contract taken up by the Dons last week to keep him at stadium:mk until next summer, was back-up for David Martin at the Milton Keynes club this season but will be hoping to retain the number one jersey for his country.

Ireland are currently third in their qualifying group, six points behind the Italians who have played a game more.
