Dost misses out on Dutch squad

Eredivisie top scorer Bas Dost will not travel to Euro 2012 after failing to win a place in Netherlands' preliminary 36-man squad for the tournament.

Dost, 22, has scored a remarkable 32 goals in 25 league games for Heerenveen this season and had been tipped to win a call-up despite having never represented his country before.

However, coach Bert van Marwijk overlooked the striker when naming an extensive squad that must be trimmed to 23 before the tournament starts.

Van Marwijk will announce his final squad for the finals on May 29. The Dutch have been drawn in Group B along with Denmark, Germany and Portugal.
