Double delight for Wycombe as Matt Bloomfield and Joe Low are up for monthly awards
Wycombe Wanderers’ Matt Bloomfield and defender Joe Low have both been nominated for November’s League One Manager and Player of the Month awards respectively.
This comes after the Chairboys had a brilliant spell during the penultimate month of the year, as the Adams Park side won each of their four games in the division by an aggregate scoreline of 10-2.
These victories were against Stockport County (5-0), Wigan Athletic (1-0), Lincoln City (3-2) and Mansfield Town (1-0).
What made this run even more impressive is that the first three fixtures were all away from home.
This, coupled with EFL Trophy and FA Cup wins against Crawley Town, York City and Wealdstone means Bloomfield has made it two months in a row without losing.
He was nominated for both the September and October awards, winning the latter.
For Low, the Welsh centre back has found some rich goalscoring form, as he netted in two of November’s wins (Wigan and Lincoln), whilst also keeping three clean sheets in the league.
The other managers that could win the award are the following:
Dave Challinor (Stockport County)
If a 5-0 home defeat to Wycombe at the start of November was a jolting shock, Challinor oversaw a magnificent response by leading County to three straight wins without conceding a goal, including their own 5-0 win over Bolton.
Michael Duff (Huddersfield Town)
Duff has made a subtle change to add a second holding midfielder which has resulted in greater control and consistency for his promotion-chasing side. Their unbeaten run continued in November, collecting seven points from three unbeaten matches.
Phil Parkinson (Wrexham)
His consistency of approach, plus a willingness to give opportunities to squad players to make an impact has been key to Wrexham continuing their upwards trajectory with nine points from four games maintaining their promotion push.
The nominations for Player of the Month are as follows:
Louie Barry (Stockport County) - striker
Teams have started to double up on marking Barry, but it hasn’t slowed him down, as shown by six goal involvements in November, scoring four himself, which included two trademark jinking runs and clinically struck shots at Burton.
Max Cleworth (Wrexham) – central defender
Cleworth’s return from injury to the Wrexham defence has been seamless, contributing to three clean sheets in four games with his bravery, ability to sweep up and calm composure on the ball. Headed in the opening goal against Exeter.
Harvey Knibbs (Reading) - striker
Three goals in three away games for Knibbs who has returned from an early season injury with renewed vigour. Direct, strong and willing to run at defenders, he scored a late equaliser at Stevenage and both goals against Peterborough.
The winners will be confirmed on Friday, December 13.
