Doug King given Ruud van Nistelrooy instruction as Coventry City manager search continues
Coventry City fans appear to be open to the idea of hiring Ruud van Nistelrooy as Mark Robins’ replacement.
Dutchman van Nistelrooy, 48, has been heavily linked with the vacancy since leaving his role as assistant manager at Manchester United following the appointment of Ruben Amorim. Van Nistelrooy only returned to Old Trafford in the summer to assist compatriot Erik ten Hag.
He is one of several high profile candidates in the frame to succeed Robins. Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and current England interim Lee Carsley are also in the running.

But ex-PSV Eindhoven manager van Nistelrooy is gaining support among the Sky Blue faithful. One CoventryLive commenter said: “I would like to see van Nistelrooy, plus, he would bring to the club a good deal of overseas contacts, as well as being a drawcard to attract good players.”

Another added: “One positive if he comes is he has plenty of connections to bring in one or two quality loan players if we have no budget for permanent signings in January.”
There is another train of thought, however. One supporter said: “With RVN he has only been at high profile clubs so the team he got to work with are better than ours (PSV and Man Utd). Carsley would be the better choice but then again doesn't like to commit to a club, he has better knowledge of our club and has the most experience in management.”
