DraftKings Picks Week 2: NFL DFS lineup advice for GPP tournaments
Have to say, building a Chiefs-Raiders stack was *fun*. A Vegas point total hovering near 53 would've arguably made this stack a little too public on last week's main DFS slate, depending on lineup construction. But in Week 2, the Saints-Rams tilt will challenge that number for tops this week and has track record for smashing in their last regular season matchup.
I'll learn from last week's stack and look for that GPP-winning swing with our $50K DraftKings tournament in NFL Week 2.
1 QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs vs. Raiders ($7,500)
Ideally, Derek Carr bites into Mahomes' ownership at more than $2K in savings and negative game script projected. I like building around Mahomes more here with a somewhat contrarian assumption that the Raiders at least keep this within striking distance for four quarters.
2 RB Alvin Kamara, Saints @ Rams ($8,200)
This will be our sole share of Saints-Rams, and probably the best bet there for 4.5x. Kamara's the only player on slate to rank among the top 6 running backs in each of catches, receiving yards, and rushing yards.
3 RB David Johnson, Cardinals @ Ravens ($7,100)
It's only Week 2, but I'm counting on the opponent depressed ownership for DJ in visiting the Ravens when they host top-ranked DK defense vs. RBs. As Scott Barrett noted On The Couch with Sigmund Bloom, DJ leads his position in routes run while split out and saw more than 80 percent of snaps Week 1.
4 WR Sammy Watkins, Chiefs @ Raiders ($7,200)
With Tyreek Hill out, Sammy Watkins almost has to enter any stack with Mahomes. I do think you can get cute at tight end, however, given the basement price of a certain Raiders tight end taking the same field in a shootout. I mean, dude just posted 40.
5 WR Mecole Hardman, Chiefs @ Raiders ($4,800)
So in lieu of Travis Kelce, we'll definitely need to go two-receiver on this Mahomes GPP stack. Hardman is expected to fill the Tyreek Hill-role, and at roughly $3K in discount.
6 WR Terry McLaurin, Washington vs. Cowboys ($3,800)
McLaurin ranks eighth among receivers in air yards and saves us $4,300 off the WR ceiling on this slate. Basically a textbook WR3 tournament play.
7 TE Darren Waller, Raiders vs. Chiefs ($3,300)
Take the Monday night discount here since Waller was priced before his breakout game. We'll just eat the chalk here, which is OK given our lineup construction — and of course if this shoots out and Waller goes bonkers.
8 FLEX Josh Jacobs, Raiders vs. Chiefs ($4,700)
We'll run it back further on KC with that assumption of Oakland keeping this within striking distance. Only Marlon Mack saw more carries in Week 1, and Jacobs confirmed his receiving prowess at the pro level on a 28-yard catch Monday night.
9 D/ST Bills @ Giants ($3,400)
The Bills blanked Gang Green in the fourth quarter last week while Big Blue only scored three points after their first drive. I'll take the Bills' top 10 defense in both pass coverage and pass rush grading last year at PFF, against a Giants offense which ranked bottom 10 in both.
