Mikel Arteta wanted to sign a forward in the summer transfer window and on deadline day he got a deal over the line to bring Raheem Sterling to the Emirates Stadium. It was another deal with Chelsea to sign one of their unwanted players.

It has worked out with the previous two, with Jorginho and Kai Havertz going on to play key roles under Arteta. Time will tell if Sterling can recapture his best form and prove himself during his loan spell.

It is just that for Sterling though - a loan. Come the end of the season he will be returning to Chelsea, although his tie there appears to be up.

And then, Arteta will be looking for a forward again to improve his Arsenal frontline. One name that has been linked in the past and could be available for a bargain fee is Jamal Musiala.

The Bayern Munich forward has starred in the Bundesliga and on the Champions League stage and will only have one year left on his contract come the end of the season. That will lead to plenty of speculation surrounding his future, with Bayern surely keen on bringing in some money for the 21-year-old who started his career at Chelsea.

Musiala already has one goal to his name in the German top flight this season, and ended last year with 20 goal involvements in 38 games - 12 goals and eight assists.

Arsenal will not be the only team interested, should he be on the market, with Manchester City also previously heavily linked with a move for the forward.

Musiala has delivered something of a come-and-get-me please to any interested suitors too, with a five-word message about his future. Speaking to Welt Am Sonntag, he said: "I'm very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals.

"Playing abroad like [Jude] Bellingham? I'm not thinking about where I will be in five years. Things can always change quickly in the world of football."

Things can always change quickly is the key message. He, like everyone else, knows the football world is ever-changing and come next summer, Musiala could find himself on the way out of Bayern Munich.
