The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have enjoyed a day out at Wimbledon on day nine of the tennis championships.

Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 40, were in high spirits as they watched world number one Novak Djokovic play Italy’s Jannik Sinner in their quarter-final match on Tuesday afternoon.

Sitting in the Royal Box on Centre Court, Kate looked radiant in a blue polka dot blue belted dress, by designer Alessandra Rich, while Wills looked dapper in a pale grey blazer matched with navy trousers.

The duke and duchess, who were joined by the chairman of the All England Lawn and Tennis Club (AELTC), were seen exchanging a few words with comedian David Walliams, who was also sat in the Royal Box.

Kate smiled to William after a tense rally won by the Italian player, which sparked tense “oohs” and “aahs” from the crowd before a huge wave of applause.

The duke and duchess were joined by Kate’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton, who was wearing a white floral dress.

Earlier, the Duke and Duchess were seen arriving via the players’ entrance of the SW19 grounds.

Kate, a patron of the Lawn Tennis Association and regular attendee of Wimbledon, waved as they crossed the bridge from the millennium building into Centre Court.

Tuesday marks their first appearance at the championship this year.

Meanwhile, worldwide web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie are also expected in the Royal Box.

Later in the day, British men’s number one Cameron Norrie, who is the last team GB singles player left in the tournament, is set to face Belgium’s David Goffin.

Great Britain’s Alicia Barnett and Jonny O’Mara will also be returning to the grass courts on Tuesday in the mixed doubles.

The tournament ends on Sunday, July 10.
