Kevin Durant fined $15K for obscene language, running season total to at least $65K

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant is facing another fine.

The NBA announced Friday it issued a $15,000 fine to Durant for using profane language in a media interview and "failing to comply with an NBA Security interview as part of the review process."

The comments came after a 114-108 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday at Moda Center. Durant was asked about the impact the schedule has had on the Nets, who had lost five of their last seven at that point.

The loss was the second leg of a back-to-back that started the day prior with a 121-119 overtime win against San Antonio in Brooklyn. It's nearly 3,000 miles between Brooklyn and Portland.

"Who cares? It's a part of the game. It's a part of who were are," Durant told reporters. "We've been in the league. We've got young dudes, who cares, they supposed to go get up and play. They throw s*** at you, you've got to figure out how to work around it. We still had an opportunity to win this game, you know? So who cares. That's what championship teams go through: a little adversity. They play little games within a season to help you get better. It's an opportunity for us to do the same thing.

"I'm not making no excuses about no flights or our schedule. Everybody's schedule is f***ed up. You know what I'm saying? But the game, let's talk about the game."

Durant's fine follows that of the New York Knicks Julius Randle. Randle was fined $25,000 a week ago for "the egregious use of profane language during media interviews" in two instances. In the second, he explained that his thumbs down gesture in the game was to tell Knicks fans to "shut the f*** up" for booing the team.

Durant already faced a $25,000 fine issued on Dec. 12 for directing obscene language toward a fan in a game in Atlanta. The courtside video showed a fan heckling Durant and the player responding with expletives. He was fined another $25,000 in October for throwing the ball into the stands in a win over the Indiana Pacers.
