After months of intense speculation over his future, Koeman was finally sacked following the listless defeat to Rayo Vallecano last week, with Blaugrana icon Xavi expected to take the reins soon.
Koeman’s final win in charge came against Dynamo Kiev at Camp Nou a fortnight ago, with Gerard Pique scoring their first goal in this season’s competition after heavy defeats by Bayern Munich and Benfica.
Barca now sit third in Group E, one point shy of Benfica with their hopes of reaching the last-16 revitalised.
