Sheffield Eagles will face for a place in the Championship Grand Final

Sheffield Eagles remain on course for a second successive appearance in the Co-operative Championship Grand Final after a 54-12 rout of 2010 champions Halifax at The Shay.

Last year's runners-up ran in 10 tries against a disappointing Halifax side, who never recovered from a slipshod first half after which they trailed 22-0.

Sheffield's overseas stars Misi Taulapapa, Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Menzie Yere scored five tries between them, while winger Scott Turner grabbed two and Mitch Stringer, Michael Knowles and Dominic Brambani got the others.

Simon Brown kicked seven goals while Paul Handforth, Rob Worrincy and Ryan Fieldhouse scored consolation tries for Halifax after the break.

The Eagles now take on Leigh in Thursday's final eliminator at the Leigh Sports Village for the right to take on reigning champions Featherstone in the Grand Final at Warrington on Sunday, September 30.

Barrow reached the Championship 1 Grand Final thanks to a 22-20 win at table-toppers Doncaster, who will play Workington for a place in the final.
