Sheffield were the victors in Co-operative Championship action on Thursday

Batley missed the chance to go top of the Co-operative Championship after they surrendered an 18-point half-time lead to go down 32-24 against Sheffield Eagles.

The Bulldogs looked in complete control when a four-try opening half handed them a 24-6 advantage at the break.

Mark Applegarth, Gareth Potts, Alex Brown and Kris Lythe all crossed over for converted scores with Vinny Finigan providing the sole response from the visitors.

But after Finigan crossed again on 57 minutes, the Eagles notched up 26 unanswered points, with converted tries from Scott Turner and Mitch Stringer in the final seven minutes securing victory.
