Eagles can keep playoff hopes alive by upsetting Indians tonight

Feb. 13—RUSK — Despite a 5-26, 2-7 record, the Rusk Eagles are not out of the playoff picture going into tonight's regular season finale against Jacksonville (7:15 p.m., Eagle Coliseum).

The Eagles, who have won their last two league games, appear to be heating up at the right time.

If Rusk upsets Jacksonville (12-16, 5-4) and Bullard loses to league-leading Hudson, Rusk and Bullard would be tied for fourth place in the conference standings.

Since the Eagles and the Panthers split their regular season meetings — Bullard knocked off Rusk, 71-57, on January 19 in Bullard and the Eagles returned the favor by downing the Panthers, 73-59, at Eagle Coliseum early last week — a play-in game would be necessary to see which team would advance to the post season as the district's fourth seed.

Regardless of the outcome of tonight's fray, Jacksonville will represent District 18-4A as its third place team when the playoffs get under way early next week.
