EastEnders to reference West Ham cup win with last-minute insert scene

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders will include a special last-minute scene inserted into tonight's (June 8) episode upon broadcast, it has been confirmed.

The BBC One soap often includes specially filmed scenes to reference real-world events, and in this case it's West Ham's victory in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina. It is the club's first major win for 43 years, and celebrities like Danny Dyer are very happy about it.

The soap's official Twitter account confirmed the inclusion of the scene in tonight's TV broadcast, sharing a picture of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who will both feature in the scenes, celebrating in the Queen Vic.

They captioned the post: "A specially shot scene to celebrate a special East End moment! Congratulations @WestHam from us all at EastEnders."

EastEnders has started uploading episodes to BBC iPlayer earlier in the day on the day of broadcast, but sometimes certain moments won't be included ahead of the TV broadcast, either because it's a major spoiler or a last-minute filmed insert like this West Ham scene.

The winning goal in the match was scored by Jarrod Bowen, who is the other half of none other than Dani Dyer.

The couple welcomed twin daughters together last month, joining Dani's son, Santiago, from a previous relationship.

"It's been amazing watching Santi be a big brother, he has melted my heart in ways I couldn't imagine and he just feels like such a big boy all of a sudden," she wrote. "My heart feels so so full and so excited for our journey together as a family of 5."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
