The England and Wales Cricket Board have reportedly mentioned going through a lot of security procedures ahead of the tour in Pakistan due to the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. Pakistan board has worked so hard in getting back the teams to touring their nation for a series and this might not be the best news to their board.
After almost 16 years, England was set to travel to Pakistan for a two-match T20 internationals ahead of the T20 World Cup but the crisis that developed in Afghanistan will be a worry for England. No international sides have been touring Pakistan until last year due to the terror attack against Sri Lanka in 2009 and the board had to wait a long time to convince the touring teams of their safety.
ECB Keeps An Eye On The Situation
There were reports from the ECB spokesmen that the current situation in Afghanistan has been monitored and also Pakistan’s security concerns will be undergone as usual for any tour. He added that the tour should happen according to the schedule as the preparations have started. There have been a lot of talks on Pakistan having connections with the Taliban and it has popped up security concerns.
“For any tour there’s ongoing security procedures and checks. We continue to plan for the men’s and women’s tour of Pakistan this autumn.” An ECB spokesperson said on The Daily Mail. England men are scheduled to play two T20Is at Rawalpindi while the England women are also scheduled to travel to Pakistan for a three-match ODI series and two T20Is.
ECB announces Squad For Third Test Against India
The ECB has announced a 15 member squad for the third Test against India excluding the struggling Dom Sibley and Zak Crawley. Both the top-order batsmen have failed to contribute to England’s innings consistently and it was only a matter of time till they face the axe. Dawid Malan has returned to the Test team after a long time and he will be a player to watch out for.
