Ed Chamberlain has signed a new contract extension with Leigh Centurions until the end of the 2024 season.
The Ireland international has been a regular in Adrian Lam’s starting side, scoring 10 tries in 19 appearances.
He was called up to Ireland’s training camp during the mid-season international break ahead of the World Cup later this year.
Chamberlain, 26, made his professional debut with Widnes during the 2016 Super League season. He made his international debut against Italy in the 2017 World Cup Down Under.
He joined Salford on a permanent basis in 2019. During his time at the AJ Bell Stadium, Chamberlain was sent on loan to London Broncos, in 2020 and 2021, before joining the Centurions at the start of the current season.
Ed Chamberlain on new deal
He said: “I’m really happy to have signed the new deal.
“This year has been a really good run with the boys. Both Lammy (Adrian Lam) and Chezy (Chris Chester) have put together a really good squad.
“I can’t wait to, hopefully, get us up to Super League and be a part of that for the next two years.
“Lammy and Chezy have been really good for me. They’ve both worked really hard to get this squad in the shape that it is.
“On Adrian, should we get promoted, I know he is a very good coach. I can only see bigger and better things happening for both this club and me personally going forward.”
Head of rugby Chris Chester added: “Ed has been arguably one of our most consistent players this season.
“His performances this season have warranted this new deal and we are well aware we can’t carry everyone into 2023. But it’s important to get our best British talent signed up and Ed is definitely one of them.
“All the staff and I are looking forward to continuing to work with him in the next few seasons and watching how he develops.”
