Eddie Howe toying with £95million selection call that will excite Newcastle United fans

Eddie Howe says he is looking to find a solution in order to play both Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes in the same XI.

The Italian international has dropped down to the bench in recent Premier League games with Bruno the preferred starter. Some fans have questioned whether Bruno is deemed undroppable but Howe is looking at ways to pair up the star duo.

Howe, speaking at his press conference today, said: "Anything is possible. Of course they can. They are two outstanding players. It’s up to me to try and find a solution that works for both players and sees their qualities within the team.

"You can put any player into the team and any combination of players into the team, but it’s got to be to the team’s benefit. It has to be right for both players to showcase their attributes. So, hopefully we can do that."

Tonali came on as substitute against West Ham in the 2-0 defeat but the game was arguably already lost. With Bruno touch and go for the trip to Crystal Palace, Howe was asked about Tonali's mood.

He said: "He’s been good and has trained really well, especially this week, I’ve been really pleased with his contribution. He did really well when came on at Nottingham Forest, in a moment when that game was in the balance at 1-1.

"He played a big part in moving that game towards us. So he’s fighting for a place and is doing himself no harm with how he’s performing in training."

Howe's midfield options should be made easier with Joe Willock and Bruno set to train today while Lewis Miley is set to star for the Under-21s against their young Crystal Palace counterparts.

Howe added: "They have a chance to play. Not serious injuries so we’ll make a decision today."
