Unai Emery reportedly wants Aston Villa to sign three players from Villarreal in the coming months as he looks to achieve his main objectives.
The former Arsenal manager was swiftly appointed by Aston Villa last month following their decision to sack Steven Gerrard.
The Spaniard has his first game in charge at Villa Park this weekend as his side host Manchester United.
Emery has a big job on his hands as Aston Villa are currently 16th in the Premier League. Just a point is currently keeping them out of the relegation zone.
Villa are likely to be busy in the transfer market in January as they look to give Emery a stronger platform for a positive end to the season.
Spanish outlet La Razon have claimed that Emery already has one eye on the winter transfer window.
Emery ‘could shake Villarreal’ as the manager ‘wants to take three players’ from his former club.
Jackson is said to be the ‘most affordable’ of the three as his release clause is set at 30 million euros.
It is noted that Barcelona have also been in the running to sign him but he was handed his Villarreal debut by Emery.
The 21-year-old is best known as a winger but he was operated as a striker at the start of this campaign.
Torres meanwhile is a player who has consistently been linked with the Premier League in recent years. Man Utd have been among his admirers.
The centre-back has a 65 million euros release clause but with his contract due to expire in 2024, his value will surely decrease in the coming months.
Finally, Pino was a player mentioned a lot during the recent summer transfer window. Arsenal were said to be considering him as they plotted a move for a new winger.
The 20-year-old was a breakout star in Spain last term as he was involved in ten goals in La Liga.
He would cost a lot as Villarreal recently extended his deal until 2027 and this new contract includes an €80m exit clause.
It remains to be seen if these reports will come to anything, but Villa supporters should probably take all of this with a pinch of salt.
Emery does at least have a lot of ambition as his “dream” is to win a trophy as Villa boss.
“My dream is to win a trophy with Aston Villa. It’s my personal challenge at the beginning,” Emery told reporters.
“My second objective could be to play with Aston Villa in Europe. Now we have to start thinking only about the next match because we are not in a good position in the table.”
