Emma Raducanu is the latest to heap praise on Carlos Alcaraz, describing her fellow rising star as a “very exciting” player.

Alcaraz is enjoying a dream start to the 2022 season as he has won the Rio Open, Miami Open and Barcelona Open. His win in Miami made him the third youngest player behind Michael Chang and Rafael Nadal to win an ATP Masters 1000 event while he has also broken into the ATP Top 10.

Many players, pundits and fans believe that the 18-year-old is destined for greatness with 21-time Grand Slam winner Nadal saying “he’s a big candidate to win a lot of Grand Slams”.

The 19-year-old Raducanu, who knows a thing or two about winning a major as a teenager as she won the US Open at as 18-year-old in September, was asked for her views on the Spaniard.

“I think what he is doing is incredible,” she told Eurosport. “But it is even more impressive how genuine and kind he is off the court.

“It is incredible how he is able to practically take the racket out of his opponent’s hand, it is definitely very exciting.”

Raducanu will return to action at the Madrid Open on Tuesday when she takes on Anhelina Kalinina in the third round.

The British No 1 is starting to find some “confidence” in her own game after struggling for form earlier in the year.

Her decision to split from coach Torben Beltz after only a few weeks together raised a few eyebrows as she is now looking for a fourth coach in 10 months, but the change appears to have done her well.

“It’s clear that it’s been a year of changes,” she said.

“But right now I’m just focused on my game and what I do in training.

“The most important thing is when you have confidence in your game, in your shots, it is what really counts and not the rest. Just feel good about yourself.”

She added: “I am playing great tennis, I feel very confident in my game, but everything comes from the work I’ve been doing on the court during training in recent weeks.”
