Emma Raducanu will play her first-ever women’s doubles WTA Tour match on Monday after she was confirmed in the draw for the Citi Open in Washington D.C.

The US Open champion will team up with fellow teenager Clara Tauson in the WTA 250 event at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center.

While Raducanu will be playing her maiden top-level doubles events, Dane Tauson has some experience as she played doubles at several tournaments, including this year’s Australian Open and Wimbledon last year.

Monday’s match doubles encounter will be the first time both Raducanu and Tauson have played since Wimbledon with the former exiting her home Grand Slam in the second round while the Dane lost in the first round.

The pair are in the top section of the draw and they will take on the experienced duo of Lucie Hradecka from the Czech Republic and Romanian Monica Niculescu, who are seeded third.

Should they come through that encounter they could face the winners of Sophie Chang-Astra Sharma and Makenna Jones-Sloane Stephens match-up. Top seeds Jessica Pegula and Erin Routliffe, who take on Sabrina Santamaria and Heather Watson in their opener, could be semi-final rivals.

Both Raducanu and Tauson are also in the main draw for the singles with US Open champion Raducanu seeded second and taking on Louisa Chirico from the United States in the first round on Tuesday while eighth seed Tauson is up against Andrea Petkovic.
