Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale has revealed more details on former EastEnders star Martha Cope's upcoming guest stint.
Martha joins the ITV1 soap next week, taking on the role of newcomer Sophie. This casting news was first revealed a few days ago, when it was teased that Martha would play a relative of one of the villagers.
Emmerdale bosses have now confirmed that Sophie will arrive as part of a new storyline for Ryan Stocks' girlfriend Gail Loman.
Gail, played by Rachael Gill-Davis, returned to the village earlier this year to reconnect with Ryan. She'd previously appeared briefly in 2019.
As Gail enjoys a romantic meal with Ryan at The Woolpack, she makes her excuses to move away for a moment.
Gail furtively tries to follow up a mysterious phone call that she has received.
Later, Gail meets up with a desperate woman called Sophie in the allotment.
Gail is visibly shaken when Sophie shares some bad news about someone called Oscar.
What is Gail hiding – and could this affect her relationship with Ryan?
Martha Cope played the recast version of Dotty Cotton's mother Sandy Gibson on EastEnders in 2021.
She has also previously played a guest character on Emmerdale before – DC Morden, who investigated a fire at Home Farm from late 2013 to early 2014.
