Emmerdale star Claire King on Kim catching out Caleb

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Claire King has explained why her character Kim Tate is about to turn against Caleb Miligan.

Kim has been fooled by Caleb since they started working together earlier this year, but next week's episodes see the tables turn when she questions him over his deceitful behaviour.

Caleb is the secret son of Kim's late husband Frank Tate and is determined to take over Home Farm, believing that it's his birthright.

Show bosses haven't yet revealed how much Kim will find out about Caleb's secrets, but tense spoiler pictures show her confronting him after his plans start to fall apart next week.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press about the upcoming scenes, Claire explained: "Kim's husband Will sets a few alarm bells ringing, because of the fact that Caleb has been throwing his family under the bus just to get Kim a farm. He's thinking: 'This is all a bit strange, this is all very peculiar'.

"Caleb has put some malware on Kim's computer and he hacks into it so he can get a password and take all her money out of her account.

"He's been listening to her music – a Neil Diamond song, 'Forever In Blue Jeans', which Kim sang at the hen party.

"Kim hears Caleb humming along to 'Forever In Blue Jeans', so that triggers an alarm for Kim and she thinks: 'Right, I'll have to test him out'."

She continued: "Kim's not going to be a happy bunny when she finds out, is she? I think 'best served cold' might come into it. She will bide her time, I think."

Claire praised the decision to introduce the new storyline – noting how it has expanded Kim's circle at Home Farm and has revisited the tensions between the Tates and the Dingles.

She laughed: "I thought that they would be introducing a relative somewhere along the line, because the Tate dynasty doesn't seem to be much of a dynasty! It's like a one man band and a baby. So I thought something like this might come up.

"It's a good plot – it's hard to get it all pieced together, but it does all come together. It's an interesting story and it's good to do something that's the Dingles versus the Tates – and to have somebody who's kind of in the middle."

Asked how she'd feel if Kim lost her fortune for a while, Claire replied: "She's been there before when we had the old triangle – the Dave/Kim/Frank triangle. She got turfed out of Home Farm and she ended up living in the village.

"That was my biggest fear – that I could end up back there again! My rheumatoid arthritis couldn't cope! But who knows? I just hope there's a set inside if she does!"

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
