Can we end the season now?

I think I speak for the majority of Swansea City fans when I say: PLEASE END THE SEASON NOW!

Of course - due to pesky league rules - we can’t (and I am sure if we could, teams like Aston Villa would have already done so back in January), but if the remaining games are anything like the farce we saw on the weekend, we want this season over as soon as possible.

It’s been an awful year, peppered with a few highlights. But after safety was pretty much guaranteed a few weeks back when the 40 point target was reached, it seems the highlights are over.

The last two games saw a very poor 3-0 loss to Newcastle, followed by a completely embarrassing 4-0 defeat at the King Power Stadium on Sunday - one that flattered the league leaders.

Before the Leicester match I thought we had a chance to cause an upset - pay them back for the 3-0 drubbing at the Liberty back in December. But after Ashley Williams casually gifted the first goal within ten minutes I knew it was going to be another one of those games.

I dread to think what’s in store for us when we host Liverpool next weekend. Having said that, as unpredictable as Swansea are this season, I wouldn’t be surprised if they hammer Klopp’s men.

No - actually, I would be surprised, because the football Swansea are playing at the moment is terrible. Some of the worst all season, and that’s truly saying something.

It seems to be an amalgamation of everything: poor formation and player selection; players not showing any interest; unsettled managerial future; nothing else to play for; and the sheer inability to defend set pieces.

I guess there’s not much point in analysing the problems now. All we can really hope for in the final few games is no more embarrassing scorelines.

A new manager (hopefully not Brendan Rodgers) will probably come in over the summer and tear the current team apart, so we don’t know who will stay and who will go player-wise.

However it would be good to see some youngsters getting a run out now ahead of next season, as players like Ki Sung Yueng, Angel Rangel and Bafetimbi Gomis don’t really need much more game time.

Let’s hope the next three games go by pretty painlessly, then we can start looking forward to a season where we are actually watching Swansea City, and not this bizarre mix of sloppy players wearing the shirt.
