This was also the first time Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat. Despite good batting conditions, it was the England bowlers who grasped the advantage with both hands.

Curran and Robinson and Overton joined later after the slide was started by the veteran Anderson. Between 6.59 pm to 7.10 pm IST, India lost those four wickets to put England on top in the Test match.

Mohammed Siraj’s wicket by Overton with India on 78, ended the misery as India registered one of their lowest total against England in Test cricket in the country.
